Rozel Point and The Spiral Jettty

Rozel Point Utah

Tar like, thick sticky oil,
coming right up through
the white salt flats

30-50 wells were drilled here at one
time producing 10,000 barrels of oil,
but has been inactive since the 1980's

Careful where you step!

Quarter mile away from
the tar is the Spiral Jetty

Capt. Morgan Jim

Made by earth artist Robert Smithson in 1970

It was perfect weather for this adventure,
Thanks Kristi and Craig for coming with.

Exploring Willard Basin

With our new Xterra and
Garmin GPS we set out
on an Adventure

Kristi, Craig, and Kelly
came along to play

Higher on the mountain
we got into snow and wind

Hunting season had us sporting
some Orange to keep from
being mistaken for animals

At the Basin we enjoyed our packed lunch
and hiked for two more caches

Under Ground Silverton

Old Hundred Gold Mine

The ceilings were lined
with chain link
in some areas.

That will hold the mountain
up I'm sure.

Our guide demonstrated
drilling techniques.
Very Loud!!!

Dynamite

Some tunnels were flooded
too much to enter.

Necessary mine equipment:
Ore scooper
&
Pot for pooper

Jim and I,
with (Digger) the guide.

Tiny Colorado Towns

TRAINS

Narrow gauge railways
with open passenger cars
take tourists
from
Durango to Silverton

We chose to drive the route.

The mountain pass was amazing!

We were eating lunch in
Silverton as the train pulled in.

Old Town New Mexico

Jim and I stopped in Albuquerque to explore.

We had a wonderful lunch here.

There are so many shops.

The architecture is simple....

...yet interesting.

Followed the Route 66 for a while.

Colorful

Fantastic
